Photos from the Bushwick perimeter ride

The annoying thing about being annoyed with gentrification is that I must end up annoyed by myself (thank god there is only one of me). I am frustrated with people encroaching and taking over a neighborhood that was previously undesirable, and in the worst and (inevitable?) scenario, pushing out the older, less well-funded tenants to other undesirable areas, but am inescapably part of that change.

It is a complex issue, and one that I have yet to suss out, so for the sake of not putting up, I will shut up. I decided it would at least to tour my neighborhood so as to know it and appreciate it and not just my immediate blocks (and my favorite organic bicycle shop). These are photos from my perimeter ride

    b. what is an organic bike store?

    c. Ah, yes. The complexity of gentrification–really its what keeps NYC vibrant and successful as a city I think. Perhaps that’s why government is so important to have ways to help people in some economic fashion if they are caught in the consequences (or in economic terms, the externalities of the situation. BTW, are you and ALL your friends voting in the upcoming election? Or working for progressive candidates? This election is WAYWAY important.
